Chat and voice
Text chat and voice have separate audience controls. Check the audience before you send a message or speak.
Send text
- Press Enter to open chat.
- Select the audience.
- Enter a message of up to 280 characters.
- Press Enter or select Send.
- Press Escape to close the composer.
Team is the default text audience.
| Text audience | Who can receive it |
|---|---|
| All | Players in the match |
| Team | Players on your team |
| Nearby | Nearby living allies and enemies that the game can route sound to |
| Nearby team | Nearby living allies that the game can route sound to |
Walls and distance can block nearby delivery. Nearby text is unavailable while you are dead. All and Team text are not limited by distance.
The game limits rapid messages. If a message is rejected, wait and try again. Text input stops gameplay controls while the composer is open. The match still continues.
Enable voice
Voice starts off. Opening settings does not turn on your microphone.
- Open Settings, then Audio.
- Select the microphone and audio output.
- Select Enable voice and read the consent message.
- Choose Nearby or Nearby team.
- Hold V while you speak.
- Release V to stop.
Nearby can include enemies. Nearby team limits the audience to nearby allies. Neither option is a team-wide radio.
A wall or distance can stop nearby voice. Wait for the audience change to finish before you speak again.
Check your microphone
Hold the microphone test button in Audio settings. Watch the local level meter. Release the button to end the test.
The meter confirms local input. It does not prove that another player heard you. Ask a nearby teammate to confirm delivery.
Use Mute mic to stop microphone capture. Use Deafen to stop hearing remote voice. Adjust voice volume separately from game sound.
Privacy
The selected audience can hear you while you hold a voice or spell control. The game host processes speech to check spell chants. The game does not store audio by default.
Game hosts may retain text messages for match review. Do not put access codes or personal secrets in chat.
This wiki has no account, chat, tracking script, or microphone access.
If voice is unavailable
Check microphone permission, the selected device, mute state, and the voice status. Retry from Audio settings after you correct the issue.
You can continue to use text chat. Channeler chants can remain unavailable until voice works. Include the exact status message in a bug report.
