Resources and miners
Your inventory holds wood, stone, metal, gold, and food. Press I to check it.
The total carried limit is 200 resources. Deposit spare materials at the Relay so you have room to collect more.
Collect resources
- Dig natural stone to collect stone.
- Dig metal ore to collect metal.
- Dig gold ore to collect gold.
- Break built wood, doors, or beams to recover some wood.
- Break a constructed stone wall to recover some stone.
- Use Interact (E by default) when Loot appears beside a nearby bag or body.
- Collect output from a friendly miner.
Recovery does not return the full construction cost. Dirt does not provide a carried building resource.
Ordinary attacks and the Engineer’s Dig tool can damage a body. Aim at the body itself. Destroying it leaves its carried loot available. There is no separate corpse-removal tool.
Place a miner
A miner slowly produces resources from an intact deposit. Only Engineers can place miners.
- Carry 20 wood, 10 stone, and 5 metal.
- Find natural stone, metal ore, or gold ore.
- Clear one cell directly above the deposit.
- Select Miner on the tool wheel, or assign it to the hotbar from Inventory.
- Stand within reach and aim at that clear cell.
- Use the tool to place the miner.
The miner needs a clear space. It cannot share a cell with another miner or block a spawn, station, vehicle, or core.
Read miner output
| Deposit below the miner | Output |
|---|---|
| Natural stone | 1 stone every 5 seconds |
| Metal ore | 1 metal every 15 seconds |
| Gold ore | 1 gold every 30 seconds |
These times use game simulation time. A miner does not consume or damage its deposit.
Each miner holds up to 100 resources. It stops when full. It also pauses when the team has no connected players or the round has ended. Missed time does not build up for later output.
The default team limit is four miners. A host can set a different limit. Read the placement message if the team limit is reached.
Collect and protect
Any class can collect from a friendly miner. Move within 2 tiles with a clear view, then press Interact (E by default) when Collect resources appears. Release the key before collecting again. The nearest eligible object supplies the hint; move closer to the miner if another object is selected. The miner needs stored output and your inventory needs free space.
Enemies can damage miners. Removing the source deposit destroys the miner. Stored resources can drop as loot when the miner is destroyed.
Keep miners behind cover and collect them before they fill. Use the team stations to share their output.
Place an oxygen generator
The O₂ generator is available on orbital habitat development maps. Native acceptance and public habitat delivery are still pending; see current limits. Surface maps do not use the pressure and breath system.
- Use an Engineer and carry 30 metal and 10 stone.
- Open Inventory, choose O₂ generator, and assign it to a hotbar slot.
- Select that slot and aim at a clear, dry cell above solid, supported flooring.
- Stay within building reach and use the left mouse button to place it.
The pump cannot share a cell with another machine or obstruct a player, spawn, station, vehicle, or core. Each team can have eight generators. Choosing the palette item does not spend resources; successful placement does.
A placed generator runs automatically. It supplies air and replenishes oxygen, but a breach can let that air escape. Seal the room and use its airlocks, then check your own air display. Recovery takes time and depends on the connected space.
A generator has 100 health and can be damaged. Flooding its cell pauses it. Removing its solid floor destroys it. Its occupied cell cannot accept another building. Safe air restores your breath reserve; it does not restore lost health. Use the existing food or healing options when needed.
